NHP provides optional benefits that are not covered by the medical aid benefits. These benefits were instituted to assist our beneficiaries with assistance to cover unexcepted costs and expenses such as funerals.
Funeral Cover
Underwritten by Sanlam Namibia
The last thing a member should worry about are the funeral expenses following a sudden illness. NHP members have the option to obtain funeral cover at a very competitive rate. The funeral cover is not part of the normal medical aid fund benefits.
The Amount payable at death are as follows:

- New members may have a choice at inception to choose one of the benefit options, either principal member only or the family package.
- Annually, on 1 March, employees will have a choice to lower or increase their benefit options or moving from principal member only to the family package and vice versa.
- If an existing member increases his/her benefit option or moves from principal member only package to family package, a 6 months waiting period for natural cause death will apply to the cover amount in excess of the amount that applied before the increase or the additional cover for the spouse and children.
